What's new in Loreon

v1.20.0

Latest

Creatures your hero takes under the story’s law are now remembered as themselves — one creature, one name in your language — and the library asks what story you want to read next.

New
  • A creature your hero takes under the story’s law is remembered as itself rather than by the words you happened to call it, so it no longer returns as a stranger under a different name. It keeps a portrait and a name in your language at once, and it comes back as the same creature in the roster, in the book of everything you have met, and at the moment you let it go. The first reader to meet a creature pays 2 Actions for its portrait; everyone who reads that story afterwards meets it for free.
  • The library opens with a tile that asks what story you would like to read and lets you describe it in your own words. Making your own is not open yet, and the sheet says so instead of pretending otherwise — what you describe is what we build next.
Fixed
  • Illustrations are being created again. The provider behind them withdrew the models we were using, and creation moved elsewhere the same day, so turns come back with their art.

v1.17.0

In stories that use it, your hero now grows: deeds are recorded as they happen, and at each new level the story offers three abilities written for it, and you choose one.

New
  • Stories that turn it on keep a record of what your hero has actually done. A deed the chronicler would note is marked at the moment it happens, and when enough of them add up the story opens a choice of three abilities written for that world. Tap one, or simply say which you take in your next action. Some stories show the count; others keep it unspoken and let you feel it in what your hero can now do.
Improved
  • Stories with artwork are illustrated more evenly. When the narrator has gone too long without a picture, one is added, so a long stretch no longer passes without art.
  • Your inventory is grouped by rarity, rarest first, so the one thing that matters is not buried under forty common ones.
Fixed
  • The content check no longer rewrites the game’s own status lines. A line that reported your state could come back reworded; it is now left exactly as written.

v1.15.0

Your first day on Loreon is free — every turn, illustrations included — and Loreon is now on Google Play, with 25 actions waiting the first time you open the app.

New
  • Everything you play in your first 24 hours is free: every turn, at any writing quality, with the illustrations included. The clock starts when your account is created, not when you finish a story, and signing up carries over the time you already had as a guest rather than restarting it. Your welcome actions are untouched while the day runs, so they are still there when it ends.
  • Loreon is now an Android app: a home screen icon instead of a tab, and more of the screen for the story. Open it for the first time and 25 actions are added to your account, once.
Improved
  • The stories suggested under the one you are reading now need a genuinely uncommon thing in common, so a tag that everything carries no longer counts as a match.
  • Browsing costs your phone less. The covers dropped the animation that was the most expensive thing on the page, and hover effects only run where there is a real pointer.
  • A notification now goes to one place — whichever of Telegram, browser or the app you used last — instead of arriving three times over.
  • App updates apply quietly the next time you move between pages. The “Reload” banner that sat over the bottom bar is gone, and an update never interrupts a turn.
  • Transitions are about a fifth quicker and move on a spring curve, so panels and sheets settle instead of gliding.
Fixed
  • The opening of a story is illustrated again. Since early July, every opening whose narrator did not ask for a picture had been shipping without one.
  • Japanese sessions now open in Japanese. The very first prompt behind the scenes was still English, so a story could start in the wrong language.
  • An item whose icon we had retired no longer breaks the session it sits in — unknown icons quietly fall back to a stand-in instead of failing the turn.
  • Google sign-in tells you what went wrong. A blocked pop-up, or an in-app browser that cannot show one, now says so and tells you what to do instead of failing silently.

v1.11.0

Three levels of writing quality to choose from, a lantern that dims the turns behind the one you are reading, and a narrator that finally always answers in your language.

New
  • Writing quality is now a single choice with three levels — Standard, Enhanced and Premium — costing 1, 2 or 3 Actions per turn. Each level is written by a different model, chosen by blind comparison rather than by price, so you can spend more on a scene that matters and less on the ones between.
  • The reading page is lit by a lantern instead of a settings strip: the turn you are on stays clear while the ones behind it recede, and you decide how far the light reaches. Your open objectives now sit in a rail at the top, and a story can keep its own accent colour instead of following your profile.
  • The audio player has a fullscreen view with a halo that moves to the music.
Improved
  • The pricing page now shows the price in your own currency, the same one you will be charged at checkout, instead of always quoting US dollars.
  • The library only draws the rows you can actually see, so scrolling a long catalogue stays smooth on a phone.
  • Long runs keep more of what happened. The summary of earlier chapters is written by a better model, and the amount of story it can hold is now measured per language — Ukrainian and Japanese sessions were quietly getting a smaller window than English ones.
Fixed
  • Writing to the narrator in another language no longer makes it reply in that language — the story stays in the language you chose to read it in.
  • Items in your inventory show their proper icon again instead of a question mark; the app had fallen more than a hundred icons behind.
  • Back goes back one step, everywhere. Opening a story from one of your lists now returns you to the list rather than out of it.
  • Signing up now carries over everything you had as a guest, including a balance with no sessions attached, which used to be left behind.

v1.8.0

Suggested directions moved into the message box, where you can edit one before sending, and a turn in progress now follows you between tabs and devices.

New
  • A turn keeps going on our side even if you close the tab, lose signal, or switch to your phone. Come back and you rejoin the same turn already in progress instead of being locked out. You can also stop a turn you no longer want, and the Action it used is returned to you.
  • A new reading setting decides when suggestions are written: always, alongside every turn, or only when you ask for them.
Improved
  • Suggested directions no longer sit between you and the story — the page now ends with the narration. Tap the sparkles button next to the message box to see them, and picking one puts it in the box so you can change a word or add to it before you send.
  • The home page now shows what people are actually reading — a drifting shelf of the most-played covers, and genre shortcuts straight into the library.
Fixed
  • The story grid no longer jumps when the search bar tucks away as you scroll, and filters now open above the navigation instead of behind it.
  • Menus and the illustration quality picker now follow your reading theme instead of staying dark on a light page.

v1.7.0

A much lighter app on phones, subscriptions that renew and expire correctly, and fixes for turns that used to arrive incomplete.

New
  • An Android app is in testing ahead of a Play Store release, and can now handle subscriptions through Google Play.
Improved
  • The animated background and the glow behind story covers were quietly redrawing on every screen, which cost a lot on phones. They are gone or now static, so scrolling is smoother and the app is easier on your battery — without changing how anything looks.
Fixed
  • Several subscription problems are fixed: yearly plans now receive their Actions every month instead of only once, plan features correctly end when a subscription does, switching between monthly and yearly is prorated, and a refund now removes the plan it paid for.
  • Turns no longer arrive without suggestions when a model provider stalls, item icons stopped failing to generate, and notifications no longer retry chats that are gone.

v1.6.0

A new collection with favorites and lists, recaps that let you pick up any story right where you left off, a daily featured pick, and a redesigned way to browse.

New
  • Star the stories you love and organize them into your own lists. A redesigned collection page brings everything you play, everything you favorite, and your lists together under one set of tabs.
  • The library now spotlights one hand-picked story each day, so there is always a fresh place to start.
  • Stories now show a storyboard of their characters, locations, and key objects. Open it to browse the reference art behind the world before you dive in.
  • You can now delete your account from your profile. Deletion has a 30-day grace window during which signing back in lets you keep the account, and a new legal page explains exactly what happens to your data.
Improved
  • Every playthrough now keeps a short recap of the story so far, so returning after a break makes sense again. You can archive runs you are done with, and continue any active one straight from a story’s page.
  • Browsing got a refresh: genre and tone now read as clear tags, each story shows how expansive its world is, and popular stories surface a play count once enough people have played them.
  • When you have a story in progress, its card now shows your turn count and a recap and lets you choose — continue that run, or start fresh — instead of silently opening a new one.
  • Narration now follows clearer content boundaries for mature themes, applied consistently across every language.

v1.3.0

Stories that illustrate themselves, a reader you can tune for speed or depth, a native Japanese interface, and a smoother library.

New
  • At vivid moments, an AI-generated image now appears right in the narration. Tap any illustration to view it fullscreen, and choose how often they show up — and at what quality — from your reading settings.
  • The entire interface is available in 日本語. A redesigned language menu also lets you pick your language by its own native name.
Improved
  • Story settings now let you mix and match reply speed and reasoning depth on their own. Pick a faster or a more refined narrator, and switch deeper reasoning on or off — whatever fits the moment.
  • A rebuilt narrator grounds the first lines of every story, so even unfamiliar worlds read clearly from the very start — and narration no longer accidentally runs words or sentences together.
  • While the next part of your story is being written, you now see a smoothly filling progress bar that reads as writing in progress, instead of an abstract spinner.
  • The story library now loads and scrolls more smoothly, and tapping a story opens its details instantly.
  • Status pop-up notifications got a cleaner look — a soft colored glow and a crisp icon instead of a fully tinted box.
Fixed
  • Objectives now resolve and clear from your quest list the moment the story completes them — no more stray codes or duplicate entries lingering in the narration.
  • On long stories, the choices you're offered are now drawn from the same story context the narration uses, so they stay consistent with what's actually happening.
