LOREON Library
Episode alternative

An Episode alternative with no gem-locked choices

On Loreon you don’t pick from two options — you type what your character says and does, and the narrator writes what happens next. The best line in the scene is the one you thought of, not the one that cost gems.

Every story is an authored world with a real arc, so an unscripted move bends the plot instead of hitting a wall. Free to start, in your browser or on Google Play.

What typing your own line looks like

A scene where the written options would be "apologise" or "walk out" — and the player does neither:

I don’t answer him. I pick up the invitation off the table, read the name of the second guest out loud, and wait.

The name lands in the room like a dropped glass. Dominic’s hand stops on the back of the chair — not a flinch, just a stillness that arrives a half-second too late. "That’s an old list," he says. It is not an old list; the ink on the date is barely dry, and you are both looking at it.

Ask him, gently, how long he was going to let me get dressed for it.

Gently is worse than shouting and you both know it. He sits down without being asked, which is its own answer. "Until Thursday," he says. Something has shifted between you that no apology reaches — and Ilse, whoever she is, is now a person you are going to meet.

Nothing in that exchange was a listed option, and none of it cost a gem. The story took the line you wrote and carried the consequence forward.

Why Episode players switch

Say the thing you actually wanted to say

The strongest moment in a scene is usually the one that wasn’t offered. Type it and the narrator answers — no waiting for an author to have written it first.

No gems on the good branch

Loreon has no per-choice currency, so the romantic option, the risky option and the honest option are all just options. Subscriptions open the library, never a line of dialogue.

Other apps like Episode

No single app fits everyone. Here’s an honest shortlist so you can match how you like to read.

Episode

An enormous community catalogue with character customization and hand-drawn art. Best for endless choice-driven drama if the pass timers don’t bother you.

Choices: Stories You Play

Pixelberry’s polished romance and mystery books, gated by keys and diamonds. Best for high-production episodic series with a fixed release cadence.

Chapters: Interactive Stories

A similar library of romance-first interactive novels. Best if you want more of the same format with a different catalogue.

Common questions

Does Loreon lock choices behind a currency, the way gem choices work?

No. No option inside a scene costs more than another — there is no equivalent of a gem choice, so the romantic branch and the risky branch are simply branches. Loreon does meter play rather than paywall it: turns spend actions, with a free daily allowance and larger amounts on a subscription, and story keys permanently unlock stories in your collection. The difference that matters is that we never price one branch of a scene above another.

Can I really type anything, or is it multiple choice like Episode?

You can type anything. Free-text input is how every Loreon story is played — you write what your character says or does and the narrator responds to it. Suggested choices sit next to the input box for when you want a nudge, not instead of it.

Is there art, like Episode’s characters and outfits?

Turning points are illustrated in each world’s own art style, so scenes arrive with a mood as well as words. It is not the same feature as Episode’s dress-up and character customization, which Loreon does not have.

What is Episode better at?

Three things, honestly. Its catalogue is far larger, because tens of thousands of authors write for it. It has character customization and outfit collecting, which Loreon has no equivalent of. And a patient reader can finish a story there for free by waiting out the passes, whereas Loreon’s full library is a subscription.

Is Loreon free?

Loreon is free to start, and signed-in players get a daily allowance of actions to keep playing with. Beyond that daily pace, and for the full library, there are subscriptions and one-time packs; see the pricing page for the current plans.

What languages does Loreon support?

English, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Japanese today, with more planned.
