What it looks like when the chat has a plot

The same free typing you are used to — the difference is what receives it. Here the player pushes on something the character would rather leave alone:

I don’t take the drink. I ask her who told her I’d be here tonight, and I don’t look away while she answers.

Vidra sets the second glass down on the rail, unhurried, and lets the question sit in the noise of the room. "Someone who is very sorry about it," she says. Which is an answer, and the wrong kind — it means the list of people who knew is now shorter than you had hoped, and every name left on it is someone you trust.

Name the three people it could be, out loud, and watch her face on each one.

She holds through the first two. On the third her thumb moves once against the stem of the glass — small, and enough. You have your answer and she knows you have it. Relationship with Vidra: strained. New objective: reach Kestrel before this conversation does.

Nothing there was on a list of options, and none of it will be forgotten in twenty messages. The consequence is recorded and the story is now somewhere new.

Why chat users switch

A destination, not a treadmill

Endless chat is great until you notice nothing is at stake. Every Loreon story has an arc underneath and endings you can actually reach.

It genuinely remembers

Objectives, relationships and consequences are tracked by the game, not left to whatever fits in a context window. What you did ten scenes ago still matters.

Nothing to set up

No API key, no proxy hunting, no model swapping when the writing degrades. Open a story and play.

Play in your language

English, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Japanese, with more on the way.

Other Janitor AI alternatives

No single app fits everyone. Here’s an honest shortlist so you can match what you actually want out of it.

Janitor AI

An enormous free library of community-made character bots with permissive content settings. Best for open-ended character chat.

Character.AI

Polished, hosted character chat with no setup and strict content filtering. Best for conversation without configuration.

SillyTavern

A free, self-hosted front-end for models you supply. Best if you want total control and privacy and enjoy the tuning.

Common questions

Do I need an API key or a proxy?

No. Loreon is hosted — the model and the prompting are handled for you. There is nothing to paste, nothing to find, and no swapping models when the writing starts to slip.

Can I type anything, like in a chat?

Yes. Free-text input is how every Loreon story is played. You write what your character says or does and the narrator responds to it — the same freedom, aimed at a plot.

Can I bring my character bots over?

No. Loreon stories are authored worlds rather than character cards, and there is no import path. If your saved bots are why you play, that is a real reason to stay.

Does Loreon allow explicit content?

No. Loreon is written for a mature audience and its stories deal with adult themes, but explicit sexual content is blocked — romantic scenes end before explicit description. If permissive content is the reason you use Janitor AI, Loreon is not a replacement for it, and we would rather say so than waste your time.

Is Loreon free?

Loreon is free to start, and signed-in players get a daily allowance of actions to keep playing with. Beyond that daily pace, and for the full library, there are subscriptions and one-time packs; see the pricing page for the current plans.
