A turn, with no setup behind it
No card, no preset, no context juggling — the world is already built and already tracking. The player types something the scene did not plan for:

I stop pretending to read the ledger and ask the clerk why every entry for the eighth is in a different hand.
The clerk’s pen keeps moving for exactly one word too long. "Busy day," he says, to the page. Behind him the shelf of duplicates is missing its eighth volume — you noticed that on the way in and decided it meant nothing. It is starting to mean something.

Reach past him and take the ninth volume instead. Read the first line out loud.
He does not stop you, which is worse than if he had. The first line names a ship that sank two years before it was loaded. Objective updated: find who signed for the eighth. Your standing with the Harbour Office has dropped — the clerk will remember this, and so will his supervisor.
The continuity in that exchange — the missing volume, the standing, the new objective — is tracked by the game, not by a lorebook you maintained.

Common questions
Do I need an API key or my own model?
No. Loreon is hosted — the model, the prompting and the tuning are handled for you. There is no key to paste, no proxy to find, and no sampler settings to get right before the writing is good.
Can I still type whatever I want?
Yes. Free-text input is how every Loreon story is played. You write what your character says or does and the narrator responds — the same interaction loop, without the setup around it.
Can I bring my own character cards?
No. Loreon stories are authored worlds rather than character cards, and there is no import path for cards or lorebooks. If your library of cards is the reason you play, that is a real reason to stay where you are.
What is SillyTavern better at?
Several things, honestly. It is free and open source. It runs entirely on your own machine, so nothing you write leaves it. You can connect any model you like, including local ones, and change every prompt and sampler. And its extension ecosystem does things no hosted product will ever offer. Loreon trades all of that away for not having to do any of it.
Is Loreon free?
