A Friends & Fables alternative you can play alone
Loreon is a good Friends & Fables alternative if you want to play alone — no Discord, no party, no session to schedule. Not if you want real 5e mechanics or to play with friends. Story first, with the bookkeeping done quietly underneath.
Type any action in an authored, illustrated world with an ending. Free to start, in your browser or on Google Play.

A turn with no dice and no sheet
No initiative order, no sheet to consult — but the world is still keeping score. The player tries something no ruleset has a line for:
YouI don’t draw. I put the sword on the ground between us, keep my hands where he can see them, and tell him the name of his sister.
The mercenary’s blade does not lower, but it stops rising. "You don’t get to say that name," he says, and there is nothing behind it — he has been saying it to himself for two years and it has worn through. Behind him, the others have not moved; they are waiting to see whether this is a negotiation or an execution, and so is he.
YouTell him where she is buried, and that I paid for it.
He looks at the sword on the ground for a long moment, and then at you, and the arithmetic of it goes across his face plainly. He does not thank you. He steps aside. Vayn will not fight you today — but he now owes you something neither of you named, and men like Vayn settle debts at inconvenient times.
That resolved without a die roll, and the debt is recorded. The mechanics stay out of the way until the story wants them.
Why solo players pick Loreon
- No scheduling, no server Open a tab and play. There is no Discord to join, no bot to invite, and nobody else who has to be free on Thursday.
- The bookkeeping is invisible Objectives, inventory, relationships and consequences are tracked for you — you get the continuity of a campaign without maintaining a character sheet.
- Authored worlds, not a blank campaign Every story starts from a written world with real motives and an arc, so a session begins immediately instead of with setup.
- On your phone or in a browser Install the Android app or just open a tab. Same stories, same progress.

Common questions
Do I need Discord?
No. Loreon runs in any browser or as an Android app. There is no server to join, no bot to invite, and no party to coordinate.
Does Loreon use D&D rules?
No. There is no character sheet, no HP bar and no spell slots. The game tracks objectives, inventory, relationships and consequences, and outcomes follow from the fiction rather than from a ruleset. If playing actual 5e is the point for you, Friends & Fables is the better tool.
Can I play with friends?
Not currently. Loreon is single-player — one reader, one story. Multiplayer parties are the thing Friends & Fables is built around and Loreon has no equivalent of.
What is Friends & Fables better at?
Three things clearly. It runs genuine 5e mechanics, which Loreon does not attempt. It supports a party of friends in one campaign. And it has tactical battlemaps and campaign tooling that a prose-first product has no answer to. Loreon trades all of that for starting instantly and playing alone.
Is Loreon free?
Loreon is free to start, and signed-in players get a daily allowance of actions to keep playing with. Beyond that daily pace, and for the full library, there are subscriptions and one-time packs; see the pricing page for the current plans.
